you don't have to be a bum or charity case to visit OzHarvest normal people with mid budget jobs come here as well its quite different than a charity. first time I went they got us to wait out side letting 4-6 people in at a time to wait in the waiting room but I've noticed much improvement lately they let every one in the waiting room instead of standing inline outside there's tea coffee biscuits sometimes tam-tams and bottles of up and go in the fridge anyone can help them self there's comfortable lounge chars and seats to sit down on and the snacks to take your mind of waiting Its not a bad idea it works something like this supermarkets throw out 100s of dollars worth of food far from its expiry date every week just to make way for new stock or newer more profitable merchandise OzHarvest rescue this food and then practically give it away only asking for a small change donation. every dollar donated feeds two more people in need and reduces landfill helping our planet. some days there's not much to choose from but I've never walked away empty handed I try to give at lest a $3 donation its not required but I want to do a small part in keeping such a good course up and running $3 doesn't even cover the cost of some of products they give if u were to pay at Coles or Woolworths even Aldi . really friendly staff that are 100% volunteers I'm shore they get some perks. these staff want to be there and help people. there not doing it just to earn a wage they get no wage. and pleas don't feel belittled when they ask watt u want and chose how much of anything to give u try to remember there's always more people coming after you and before they can restock it probably gets harder to give out stuff that people will want and they do this because some people se something they like when its running out and think they shad gather as much of this item as possible not thinking of others its not a perfect world and some people are just plain selfish and don't care about you and me and anyone else that has to miss out. so pleas make healthy donations so these guys can rescue more good food to go around to those doing it a little bit hard at times

Opportunity to reduce food waste. Take modestly and give a donation.

I visited Oz harvest today (17/10) around 1.20p.m., for the 1st time. It was such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The volunteer was so very pleasant, friendly, informative and helpful. I was surprised at what I was able to obtain.

Quick to judge problem as with nearly all people, leading to disrespect and bad vibes. Won't go back. In search of other food welfare services that don't make you leave feeling so insulted.
